Tea is like a religion for many - not a single day can begin without a cup of this fragrant drink, not a single festive family table can be complete without beautiful cups filled with a golden fragrant drink. Now what kind of teas are not sold, they can be combined with each other, trying to get your own individual drink. And to make it convenient to conduct experiments, and then save the results, you can use hand-made tea bags.

Tea for all occasions

Tea is a drink that is obtained by brewing specially prepared leaves of the tea bush. Although the same name can have infusions of leaves, flowers, roots of completely different plants. Different types of tea have their own taste and aroma. Combining them with each other, getting unique drinks, is a real art. But it can be mastered even at home, if each tea party seeks new taste and aroma harmonies, intertwining different varieties of tea and using all kinds of additives. So that the result obtained and loved does not become an accident, but is natural, it can be saved by scattering the resulting composition into tea bags.

Tea bags: a necessity or a whim?

The art of tea drinking, as everyone knows, came to us from the countries of the East. It is there that tea is grown, harvested, harvested, and composed. But they drink tea, probably everywhere. And the modern rhythm of life teaches us to use time to the maximum, and even tea is the fastest way to prepare, simply by dipping a bag bought in a store with something leafy inside into a cup of boiling water. As those who understand real tea say, tea bags are slops, not a drink, and certainly not tea. This opinion is worth listening to if you buy cheap tea in bags for single brewing. But if you make such a container for a portion of your favorite tea blend with your own hands, then this will be a great option to quickly get a delicious drink. In addition, tea blended with one's own hands, and even packed in individual exclusive tea bags, can become an original present.

Principles of idea

Tea bags are convenient because they contain one serving of tea, enough to get a cup of strong flavored drink. Not always favorite tea is sold in bags, and it has to be brewed in a teapot. which is sometimes not very convenient. But the material from which tea bags are made must be safe, so not every material can be suitable for such creativity. I'll show you how to make your own bags for your favorite tea from three common materials.

Tea bags from coffee filters

To make your own tea bags, you can use paper coffee filters. The filter must be unfolded in one layer and cut off the sides so that it is at least 7.5 centimeters wide.

Sprinkle in the center a portion of tea leaves, collected according to your taste, in the amount necessary to get a full cup of tea.

The average serving is 14 grams, or half an ounce.

The filter should be folded in half lengthwise so that the tea stays inside and in the middle of the fold. Then turn the long aligned edges twice in the same direction. Thus, the tea will be closed with a fold already on one side. The next step is to distribute the portion of tea across the width of the bag. Then it should again be folded in half lengthwise. Lift the resulting tea bag by the open short sides. If it turned out to be too long, in your opinion, then you can simply shorten it with scissors. Roll up the sides so that the tea cannot spill out.

It remains only to attach a rope to the tea bag from the coffee filter with a stapler - it must be made of cotton thread, have no odors and do not emit dyes when in contact with hot water. To the other end of the string, you can attach some kind of decoration or a label indicating the main component of the tea.

Gauze as the basis for a tea bag

The second way to make tea bags is to use thick gauze. If its weaving is not fine enough, then you can immediately fold it into two layers. So, from the prepared gauze, cut a square measuring 10 × 10 centimeters. This piece of fabric will make a bag for one standard serving of tea. However, if the tea that you pack at home contains large leaves or rather large flowers or pieces of fruit, then you should cut out a slightly larger square. So, the material is ready, we are working further.

Place the tea in the middle of the square. Then gather all 4 corners of the fabric together and lift the resulting bag, shake it slightly. Holding the bottom of the cloth with the tea with one hand, carefully twist the corners with the other hand and tie the resulting twist with a rope very, very tightly so that the bag does not come undone and the tea does not spill.

To provide additional strength to such a tea bag, you can also secure the rope with a stapler. By the way, unflavored dental floss can be used as a tea bag string. But since this material is rather slippery, a stapler will be simply necessary in this case.

Reusable Muslin Pouch

In addition to disposable materials such as paper coffee filters or gauze, you can make a reusable tea bag. In this case, unbleached and undyed muslin is best suited - a very thin plain weave of cotton or fabric with the addition of natural silk or linen. You can buy muslin in fabric stores, but be sure to check with the seller that the fabric is not dyed with chemical dyes. Such information can be found in the quality certificate. So, from the purchased fabric, you need to cut a rectangle, the size of which is 10 × 7.5 centimeters. Then tuck one of the long sides once by 1-1.3 centimeters. Sew the hem on your hands or on a typewriter - this turned out to be a drawstring for a lace.

You need to stick it in with a small safety pin. However, you can immediately lay a rope for a tea bag in the hem and already sew the edge of the drawstring. Now fold the resulting rectangle in half along the long side so that you get a bag. Sew over the edges with an overlock stitch so that the edges of the fabric do not fray. Carefully leave open the edges of the drawstring so that the rope can be tightened. Turn the resulting bag on the front side and pour a portion of your favorite tea into it.

Tighten the string so that the bag closes and the tea leaves do not spill out. To prevent the bag from opening, you can attach a bead to the end of the string. A muslin bag with a drawstring can be used several times - you need to turn it inside out and pour out the used tea leaves, rinse it with boiled water, dry it, and you can pour your favorite tea into it again for brewing.
