My daughter is a very poor eater. Feeding her is a big problem. She especially dislikes porridge. When preparing semolina for her, I always remember the wonderful writer Dragunsky and his “Deniska Stories”. In one of them, the little hero also hated semolina. What did he not add to it to eat!

Once I cooked pancakes for my beloved daughter. She licked the jam from them, but she did not want to eat the lush cakes, she only bit into some and left them on a plate. No persuasion worked for her. I was already completely desperate, but then I remembered an old Chinese parable about a grain of rice. My beauty listened with bated breath.

Weeping rice

- Once upon a time there was a girl named Duo Duo,” I began.

- Why was her name so strange? - the daughter was surprised.

- Because she lived in China. There the names are not at all similar to Russian ones. Duo Duo also ate poorly. One day, her mother cooked rice porridge for her. The girl took her chopsticks and began to stir the porridge in the bowl with them.

- What sticks? the daughter exclaimed.

I explained to her that in China they eat with special chopsticks.

- And I want it! - said my beauty.

I smiled and continued my story:

- Duo Duo did not eat porridge, but indulged. At the same time, some rice grains fell on the table. The girl wanted to brush them to the floor, but suddenly she heard crying. She could not believe her ears, because grains cannot cry! The girl leaned closer. The crying became more distinct. Then she ceased to doubt that these sounds were made by a grain of rice. It remains to be seen why it is so upset.

The amazing story of one journey

- Can food talk? the daughter asked incredulously.

- She can, you just need to learn to understand her, - I answered and continued my story.

- Duo Duo asked the grain what happened to it. In response, she heard a sad confession about his adventures. The seed said that it had been growing in the field for a very long time. It was difficult to live there, as the crops languished from the heat, they were flooded with rain, the wind ruffled them. But each spikelet tried to survive and keep precious small grains in itself so that they could get from the field to people and feed them.

Danger at every turn

- What else was in that field? - asked the daughter.

- I'll tell you now. When the spikelets grew and got a little stronger, they stopped being afraid of the wind. But here comes a new problem. They were attacked by terrible bugs. Grain told Duo Duo that many of his brothers and sisters had been eaten by locusts. Also, they were trampled by evil toads, gluttonous birds pecked, insatiable mice gnawed.

- Poor grains! my daughter exclaimed.

"We are still friends": Derevianko commented on the breakup with his wife

- Not everyone managed to reach maturity and dress in golden outfits. The good sun told them that they must endure everything in order to become good rice grains. Without them, people could die of hunger. The seeds are trying very hard to grow. Each of them held on with all their might. And now the long-awaited moment has come. People came and started harvesting. But the adventures of our little hero did not end there.

Love in the palms

- And what happened then? - the daughter asked with interest.

- You'll find out now. People gathered spikelets of rice and began to thresh them in special machines. Seed told Duo Duo that they were stripped of their fine golden clothes in those cars. After that they became white and very beautiful. But in the process of processing, a lot of rice fell to the ground. Some grains pressed people's feet into the mud. Our little hero also ended up on the ground.

- What a pity! - the daughter sighed, - really no one will save him?

- Don't worry darling, he'll be fine, I assured and continued.

- Seed no longer hoped for anything. But then a gray-haired grandfather came. The old man saw white grains in the mud, bent down and picked them up. Rhys lay in his palm and felt her warmth. Seed thought it was called love. His little heart fluttered with joy. Our hero believed that nothing bad would happen to him again. And so it happened. The rice was packaged and sent to the store. There, the girl's mother bought it, brought it home and cooked porridge for her.

Duo Duo's Brave Deed

- Which did the girl stir with chopsticks? - the daughter clarified.

If there is little snow, then there will be no harvest: December 16 - Day of Ivan the Silent

- Exactly, - I nodded, - listen to what happened next. Having finished his confession, the seed began to cry again. It considered itself to be good rice, because it was put on a plate. But the girl first threw it on the table, and then was about to send it to the trash. The grain suffered greatly. It has gone through so much to become good food for people, but it has not been appreciated. And now a bitter fate awaited him - he had to rot in a garbage dump.

Duo Duo took pity on the poor seed and ate it. She heard how it screamed joyfully in her stomach, that now it has become very useful and necessary for people.

Pancakes also ask for a tummy

My dear daughter listened to the story and said:

- I will also eat rice porridge to the last grain from now on!

- And the pancakes? - I asked.

- No pancakes. They didn't have a difficult life.

Then I explained to her that pancakes are made from flour. She is white and fluffy, like snow, only not cold, but warm and tender. To make flour, you need to take a lot of grains of wheat. They also try very hard when they grow up in the fields. Dozens of dangers await them too. Ears of bread are eaten by beetles, they are attacked by mice, locusts, birds, and various diseases. When the crop is ripe, it must be harvested very quickly. Otherwise, the rain can nail them to the ground. Then all the seeds will die.

Women's Jeans: One Detail to Consider Before You Buy

My daughter listened very carefully.

- Do wheat grains also want to get into people's tummy? she asked.

I nodded in the affirmative and added that we call wheat the golden grain, because they make bread from it. This is the basis of life. I told my daughter that dozens of people tried to make flour from a small grain, from which I baked pancakes. They will also be very upset if they end up in a trash can.

The daughter took pity on them and ate them. Now she is very careful about any food, because potatoes, and porridge, and carrots overcome many difficulties and dangers until they get to our table. Is it possible to send them to the trash?

Information for thought

Chinese parable should be known to all people in order to be more careful about food. In the world every year people throw away 100 million tons of food! At the same time, there are more than a billion people starving on our planet. Some people do not save food, while others die of hunger. Is it fair?

Scientists have found out interesting facts. Water, which was watered by plants that gave an unnecessary crop, could drink 9 million people. If all the products thrown away and rotted in the garbage dump were sown nearby, the field would occupy the entire territory of Canada.

But it's not just the waste of resources that is the problem. Rotting food is an excellent breeding ground for pathogens. Hundreds of thousands of rats and mice, which are carriers of the most dangerous diseases, feel great in landfills. Millions of cubic meters of poisonous gases are released into the atmosphere from the decomposition of food products.

Think about it.
