Adenomyosis is a fairly common disease that most affects women over forty. It should be noted that often the disease is diagnosed already in the later stages, which makes treatment more difficult. At the same time, grade 1 adenomyosis of the uterus is quite easily amenable to conservative therapy.

What is adenomyosis?

It's no secret that the endometrium of the uterus is a specific tissue designed for implantation of the embryo. If fertilization does not occur, then this uterine membrane exfoliates, and its remnants come out during menstruation, making room for the growth of new tissue. But sometimes these cells grow into the muscular layer of the uterus. Nevertheless, they retain their development cycle, and every month they are rejected with only one difference - the damaged tissues are in a closed space and, accordingly, cannot be excreted from the body. Adenomyosis of the 1st degree is accompanied by a small germination of tissues (about a third of the muscle layer). But, unfortunately, in the absence of timely treatment, the disease progresses rapidly, leading to dangerous consequences.

It should be noted that the main reason for the development of such a pathology is hormonal changes. Risk factors include:

  • adenomyosis 1 degree
    adenomyosis 1 degree
  • frequent abortions and gynecological curettage;
  • long wearing intrauterine device;
  • uncontrolled intake of hormonal drugs;
  • constant stress;
  • excessively active lifestyle;
  • constant physical activity;
  • sunbathing abuse;
  • injury to the basement membrane of the uterine endometrium;
  • hereditary predisposition.

Main symptoms of the disease

Adenomyosis of the uterus of the 1st degree is often asymptomatic and is detected only during a routine examination by a doctor. But in some cases, women complain about changes in the usual menstrual cycle, heavy and painful periods. Sometimes brown spotting is observed a few days before the start of the menstrual cycle. Some patients are concerned about very noticeable cramping pains in the lower back and lower abdomen. It should be understood that in the absence of timely treatment, the disease is fraught with the development of infertility.

The first suspicion of the presence of such a violation appears at the doctor during a gynecological examination - in such cases, an additional examination of the cervix is performed and a smear is taken for laboratory tests. Adenomyosis of the uterus of the 1st degree is quite difficult to diagnose using the methods described above. Therefore, ultrasound, hysteroscopy, and sometimes you have to resort to magnetic resonance imaging are also performed. As for treatment, conservative therapy is quite effective in the first stages. Since the development of adenomyosis is associated with hormonal disorders, hormonal drugs are used here that can normalize the functioning of the reproductive system. Surgical intervention is indicated only in severe forms of the disease.
