Knitting is a very old art form. Some consider it difficult, others argue that truly exclusive things can only be done with a crochet hook. All this is wrong! Knitting needles are a very handy tool for knitting, which you just need to learn how to properly manage. To do this, you need to learn the basic techniques, as well as symbols. Knitting is not only pleasant, but also useful.

What are the symbols for

To knit a complex pattern, you need to clearly know what types of loops are used in what sequence. In order to make it easier, special patterns have been invented that help make knitting more understandable. The symbols on them represent different techniques that were used in a particular product. In fact, such simplified images in different drawings differ. Each master often uses his own, familiar conventions. Knitting does not lose from this, since it is customary to attach an explanatory note to the diagrams, in which all the loops and techniques used in the manufacture of the product, as well as their simplified images, are deciphered.

Firstly, all the loops on the diagrams are shown in rows. This makes it easier to calculate how many loops of different types you need to knit. For all the main types of loops, their own symbols are introduced. Knitting is a very precise art. To get a specific drawing, you need to strictly follow the instructions. Such explanatory notes traditionally accompany each model. And they repeat all the designations of knitting patterns. So, the front loop is very often indicated on the patterns of patterns by a vertical line. Sometimes it is depicted as a shaded square. Purl loops, which are also very common, are depicted as a vertical line. All other elements of the picture can hardly be called loops. These are rather techniques that allow you to diversify knitting. Their symbols also differ in different schemes. For example, the yarn is often drawn in the form of a circle. Crossed yarn over - in the form of a loop with the edges pointing down. If you need to knit 2 front loops together with a slope to the right, a rectangular triangle will appear on the diagram, the diagonal of which is tilted from left to right.

For cases when it is necessary to knit several loops from one (for example, 4 or 5), there are their own symbols. Knitting for such elements of the pattern offers, say, a checkmark, inside which the required number of loops is indicated. Garter stitch can be indicated as a plus sign. If at the end of knitting the loops are closed, this technique is indicated by a hatched oval. There are also such special ways of knitting loops as "two purl loops together with an inclination to the right" or "knit two front loops together." For such cases, the authors also provide special characters.

Fashion magazines that host knitting patterns for various items usually use their own permanent notation. Symbols for deciphering patterns are placed in each magazine (for example, at the end). In order to please yourself and your loved ones with an interesting exclusive handmade product, you can slightly redo the found scheme using your usual notation.
